New York's High Line Opens Final Section
New York's popular elevated park, the High Line, opens its third and final phase at the Rail Yards.
This final section brings to a close the 15-year public works project that now stretches 22-block between Gansvoort and 34th streets. The new section, know as High Line at the Rail Yards, pays homage to the park's origins as an elevated train track. Integrated into the paved paths and public plazas are the remnants of the old tracks, which have been left behind as a physical reminder.
Like the two phases that came before it, High Line at the Rail Yard was designed by James Corner Field Operations, Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Piet Oudolf.
