We stacked (and staggered) three 40-foot shipping containers to create a one-of-kind retail store.

AETHERsf features a belt-driven, “dry cleaner”-style conveyor system.

Our original standalone store—located at The Proxy in Hayes Valley, San Francisco—AETHERsf is a concept space constructed from three 8′ x 9.6′ x 40′-foot shipping containers stacked on top of each other. The much-written about, critically lauded space features a custom glass-encased cantilevered lounge, reclaimed oak floors, and a belt-driven, “dry cleaner”-style conveyor system.
The store is a continuation of our design relationship with Thierry Gaugain—the visual mastermind behind the AETHERstream—and a partnership with architectural firm Envelope A+D. Chris French Metal provided all of the structural and architectural metal fabrication. The quaint store features a curated selection of AETHER’s men’s and women’s collections.
