Inside AETHER Women’s FW26

Unpacking our latest women’s styles with AETHER’s Women's Head of Design, Terez Havancsak.

At AETHER, function and elevated design have always existed in equal measure. But as we transition into the colder seasons, the brand’s Women’s Collection is entering an expansive new era. For Fall-Winter 2026, AETHER introduces a complete women’s technical wardrobe built around the philosophy of versatile, thoughtful layering and climate-adaptable performance.

At the helm of this evolution is Terez Havancsak, Head of Women’s Design. Raised in Hungary, Havancsak’s creative foundation was built on an intuitive balance of technical discipline and fine art. Her grandmother introduced her to traditional crafts—sewing, embroidery, knitting, and lace-making—instilling a deep appreciation for garment construction, precision, and tactile materials. Her mother taught her the visual language of balance, color, and proportion. After honing her craft across some of the outerwear industry’s most respected technical apparel brands—including The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, and Burton Snowboards—Havancsak brought her multi-dimensional perspective to AETHER.

We sat down with Terez to discuss the narrative behind FW26, the tailoring mindset guiding the new silhouettes, and how the latest line expands AETHER’s footprint in luxury technical fashion while remaining rooted in its core identity.

Design Philosophy: Merging Luxury Fashion & Technical Outerwear

Before a garment takes physical form, Havancsak begins with a paper and pencil.

"I always hand-sketch because it’s an essential part of my creative process," she shares. "It helps me bring ideas to life, explore new directions, and slow down to focus on the smallest details. This is the moment when I start thinking deeply about technical fabrics, trims, and functional details that will shape the final product."

From those initial sketches, the seasonal narrative takes shape. For FW26, the emotional inspiration centers on a free-spirited, independent woman whose sense of adventure takes her around the globe—often traveling solo in search of new experiences.

"Her style is effortless, clean, refined, and comfortable, with pieces that feel both timeless and unique," says Havancsak. "I was drawn to the contrast between fitted and oversized proportions, using versatile layering to create depth and warmth. The collection reflects a modern woman who values freedom, functionality, and personal style."

Coming into the role, Havancsak saw an opportunity to redefine AETHER Women’s by expanding beyond standalone jackets into a comprehensive wardrobe system.

“The vision was not just to add more products, but to build a more complete and intentional collection. We introduced new silhouettes, refined fits, elevated materials, and intuitive layering.”

The Intersection of Functionality and Effortless Style

A major focus of the FW26 Women’s Collection was to deliver garments that felt elevated rather than overly technical. This balance was achieved through purposeful, utilitarian design elements that work seamlessly in real life—from built-in cashmere balaclavas providing cold-weather protection to internal suspender systems that allow jackets to be carried hands-free.

"I wanted the collection to move seamlessly between the city and the mountains, giving her the freedom to go wherever the day takes her without compromising on style or comfort," Havancsak explains. "Every functional detail has a purpose, but it is integrated in a refined, clean, and aesthetic way. Most importantly, I wanted her to feel confident, capable, and effortlessly put together."

Bridging her background in high fashion and high-performance gear allowed Havancsak to bring a unique duality to AETHER’s latest release:

“In fashion, I learned the importance of fabrics, proportion, silhouettes, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Technical apparel taught me to think about performance, weatherproofing, and how a garment actually supports the person wearing it. The excitement lies in bringing these two worlds together—creating luxury garments that perform in real life.”

Product Spotlight: The Affina 3-in-1 Overcoat

A prime example of Fall-Winter 2026’s scope is the transition toward complete modular outerwear systems designed to handle unpredictable weather conditions.

"Fall-Winter 2026 is a truly unique collection and one that is especially close to my heart," Havancsak notes. "For the first time, we created a complete women’s wardrobe for AETHER, focused on building versatile outfits through thoughtful, climate-adaptable layering."

Rather than loudly announcing their technical capabilities, these pieces feature clean, sophisticated exteriors with subtle, high-performance features woven inside.

Affina 3-in-1 Overcoat

The Affina Wool Overcoat is a versatile 3-in-1 women’s coat constructed from a premium bonded wool-blend fabric. It features a removable thermal liner insulated with 800-fill-power RENU® performance recycled down. The outer wool shell and thermal liner can be worn independently or combined for maximum winter warmth. Modular features—including a removable hood and an internal bungee waist cinch—allow the wearer to customize the fit without sacrificing its sleek silhouette.

“The vision was not just to add more products, but to build a more complete and intentional collection.”

Inspiration from Nature: The Earthy FW26 Color Palette

When selecting the color palette for the seasonal collection, Havancsak drew inspiration from raw natural landscapes, creating a subtle dialogue between Scandinavian scenery and modern city dressing.

"The core palette is grounded in earthy neutrals—Latte Brown, Bone, Winter White, and Onyx Black—which create a clean and sophisticated foundation," Havancsak explains. "Against those neutrals, I introduced more expressive statement shades such as vibrant Madeira Orange and deep blues. These colorways bring new energy to the collection."

Evolving the DNA: Timeless Quality and All-Weather Performance

While FW26 pushes AETHER Women’s into new design territory, the brand's fundamental ethos remains unchanged: weather protection, clean lines, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

For Havancsak, that intersection of purpose and creativity is where high-performance design becomes truly rewarding. "I love the challenge of combining creativity, functionality, and innovation to design products that not only look beautiful, but also make people feel comfortable and protected everywhere they go."
