AETHERstream Travels: Two Weeks In Santa Fe
Since custom-building our original AETHERstream trailer in 2013, our rolling pop-up shop has been crisscrossing the country, visiting a diverse selection of locales, from major metropolitan areas to small mountain towns. Our AETHER Airstream recently made its way to New Mexico where we set up shop at the Bishop’s Lodge in Santa Fe for an on-site spring retail activation.

After a long drive from Los Angeles, we arrived at the Bishop's Lodge Hotel and Luxury Resort on May 21st, where the trailer would be stationed for the next two weeks. Situated on over 300 acres of picturesque land, this luxury resort boasts adobe-style constructions scattered across the property and features a wealth of luxury accommodations including an on-site spa, numerous hiking trails, and the SkyFire restaurant, just to name a few.

Though we spent much of our time manning the store each day, the mornings and evenings gave us an opportunity to enjoy some of the activities and amenities offered by Bishop’s Lodge. Waking up to sunny days in the region’s dry climates that eventually turned to warm, breezy afternoons, we began most mornings with a swim in the resort’s pool, or partaking in one of the hikes organized by the Bishop’s Lodge team.

These organized, curated hikes saw us explore the Dale Ball Trail System, an approximately four-mile trek featuring an array of panoramic views of the city, as well as the surrounding mountains and desert. During our time there we also explored the more challenging Alamos Vista, which provided breathtaking views of the region’s rocky terrain, apsen groves, and summit views. We closed out our time on the trails there with a trip from Diablo Canyon to Rio Grande: a leisurely six-mile hike on sandy wash trails that included views of 300-foot vertical basalt cliffs and culminated with stunning views of the famous Rio Grande. We were also able to take advantage of the horseback riding offered by the resort at their on-site stables.

Nighttime allowed us to enjoy meals at the SkyFire restaurant, which serves a delectable menu of Mexican-inspired dishes, many of which are prepared on a wood-fired grill. The restaurant also features a bar that serves drinks that are just as impressive.

After a fortnight in the Southwest we picked up stakes, packed the trailer up, and hit the road once again, heading to the AETHERstream’s next tour stop in Southern California.
